Stick With These Twigs!

We hesitated about picking up a couple of sacks of Judy's Breadsticks at Whole Foods Market. The package looked a little too '60s earth-mother-healthful to be very tasty.

But we were feelin' groovy that day and the mantra on the label was promising: "Dream Big, Love Big, Enjoy Life."

As it turns out, Judy's Breadsticks, which she calls twigs, are not only healthful but really good.

On Judy's Web site, www.lovesticks.com, Judy says the twigs are "made with organic whole grain and wheat flours, olive oil, barley malt, sea salt and yeast, kneaded with lots of love and hand-rolled in seeds."

They are also vegan, which means they have no milk or honey.
Each twig is about the size of a fat pencil and quite crunchy. The two flavors we sampled were Sweet Currant Twigs and Coffee Bean Twigs.

The currant flavor tasted like cinnamon toast with soft, chewy currants sprinkled over the outside. They would be great for breakfast on the run.

The coffee bean twigs are an interesting flavor, but you better like coffee. They have vanilla added, but the outside is sprinkled with chunks of coffee beans. The result is a taste like coffee with cream and no sugar. We loved it.
